Today’s theme is ‘garbage’ (a little unusual, don’t you think?). The first thing that came to my mind when I read what this week’s theme was, was the strike that is still going on in Toronto, and caused that –for example– some Canada Day celebrations had to be cancelled. I was in Toronto a few summers ago, in the middle of a bad garbage pickup strike. It was really hot, and the smell was unbearable.

El tema de hoy es ‘basura’ (un poco inusual, no es cierto?). Lo primero en que pensé cuando leí el tema fue la huelga que aún sufre Toronto, que causó que –por ejemplo– algunas celebraciones de Canada Day hayan sido canceladas. Recuerdo que estuve en Toronto hace unos años durante el verano, y había una huelga de recolectores de residuos. Hacía mucho calor, y el olor era insoportable.

Now I understand why the three largest homes in our area... all over 15,000 square feet.. are owned by people in the waste management business. Perhaps I wasted all that college and post-graduate schooling! ;)
My construction trash or garbage is up.
I feel sorry for Toronto... that sucks (and stinks!)! Especially that a lot of people downtown don't have access to a car to take their garbage somewhere else.
Rome, where it last happened in Europe, was a war zone after a few weeks... let's hope Toronto won't turn like that.
How gross and awful for all of the residents. Something has to be done about this. Who the heck wants to hang out in a stinky flithy city???
